1.1 Chair welcomed Members to the virtual meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 In accordance with Standing Order 34.19, the Chair stated that she had determined that the public were excluded from the Committee’s meeting in order to protect public health.
1.3 The Chair stated that if for any reason she dropped out of the meeting, the Committee agreed that Dawn Bowden AM would become Temporary Chair in accordance with Standing Order 17.22.
2.1 The Committee heard evidence from NSPCC Cymru, Barnardos and Childline.
2.2 NSPCC Cymru agreed to provide further details about trends in contacts with its helpline.
3.1 The Motion was agreed.
4.1 Members considered the evidence heard during the previous session.
5.1 The Committee heard evidence from Heads of Children's Services and the National Independent Safeguarding Board.
5.2 The Heads of Children’s Services agreed to provide more information on the contact that local authorities are routinely having with children and young people within their areas.
6.1 The paper was noted.
7.1 The Motion was agreed.
8.1 The Committee considered the evidence heard during the previous session.
8.2 Members agreed to write to the Welsh Government to request:
- sight of the data submitted from children’s services to the Welsh Government on a weekly basis; and
- further details on the steps it is taking to ensure that children who may not be known to services but are vulnerable/could become vulnerable are provided with information on how to access support.
